Downtown Dubai is a master-planned district by Emaar Properties, which describes it as a 500-acre development centred on Burj Khalifa, the tower Emaar says rises more than 800 metres. The Dubai Mall and Dubai Opera sit either side of the tower, and Emaar names Burj Khalifa Lake, The Dubai Fountain and Souk Al Bahar among the district's landmarks. Homes are mainly apartments, set among hotels, offices, shops and leisure venues.
Emaar places Downtown Dubai between Sheikh Zayed Road and Financial Centre Road. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard runs through the district, lined with restaurants and hotels, and Emaar notes that bicycles and e-scooters can be rented along it. For public transport, the RTA's Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro station has a metro link into The Dubai Mall, and the RTA also uses Financial Centre station as an access route to the Boulevard during major events.
