About Al Safa
Al Safa is a long-established residential district in central Dubai, known mainly for low-rise villa housing. The National, writing about neighbouring Al Wasl, noted the villa compounds built across Jumeirah and Al Safa. Wasl lists homes here under the community name Al Safa 1. The district should not be confused with Wadi Al Safa, a name used within Dubailand, where Gulf News places sub-communities such as Wadi Al Safa 2.
Al Safa Street shares the district's name. The Roads and Transport Authority describes its 1.5-kilometre stretch between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Wasl Road, and in April 2026 awarded a contract to upgrade it with two bridges, two tunnels, four lanes in each direction and improved walking and cycling paths. The announcement did not give a completion date, so residents should expect roadworks along the corridor for some time.
On Sheikh Zayed Road, the Red Line station formerly called Al Safa was renamed ONPASSIVE Metro Station in 2023 under a ten-year naming-rights agreement granted by the RTA. Safa Park, which Visit Dubai describes as 64 hectares of lawns with a lake and skyline views, sits alongside the area, although Gulf News places the park itself in Al Wasl.
Housing is mainly low-rise. Wasl Square, a wasl development in Al Safa 1, is described by wasl as a low-rise community just beyond Safa Park with direct access to Sheikh Zayed Road, and wasl's leasing pages list both villas and apartments in Al Safa 1. Outside managed compounds, buyers should confirm with the Dubai Land Department whether a particular plot can be owned by non-UAE nationals before making an offer.
